In this module, we will study the fundamental principles of Tibetan Medical diagnosis presented in the Root Tantra. This includes the basic approaches of inspection (of the tongue and urine), palpation (of the pulse), and dialogue with the patient, each according to the three nyepa. We will also develop a working understanding of constitutional typology based on the three nyepa, and will consider how Tibetan Medicine diagnosis compares and contrasts with diagnostic approaches used in modern medicine.
We will also study the fundamental principles of Tibetan Medical treatment presented in the Root Tantra. We will learn how Tibetan Medical therapies encourage the maintenance of health while also offering techniques to relieve symptoms and to cure the root of disease. We will explore Tibetan Medicine’s many approaches to treatment, including diet and lifestyle regimens, natural and herbal medicines, and external therapies, each according to the three nyepa. We will also consider how Tibetan Medicine treatment options compare and contrast with those offered by modern medicine.
