Online Review Class: Sunday, December 15, 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Traditional Tibetan Medicine (TTM, known in Tibetan as Sowa Rigpa or Sorig) is one of the oldest healing sciences on earth. It offers a vast medical knowledge that is accessible to everyone, and cultivates a happy mind along with a healthy body.
In this workshop, we will study the fundamental principles of diagnosis and treatment in TTM.
We will learn about the essential methods of inspection (of the tongue and urine), palpation (of the pulse), and dialogue with the patient, and will develop a working understanding of constitutional typology based on the three nyepa. We will also consider how Tibetan Medicine diagnosis compares and contrasts with diagnostic approaches used in modern medicine.
We will then explore TTM’s manifold treatment methods, including diet and lifestyle regimens, herbal medicines, and external therapies, and will learn how these methods support the maintenance of health as well as cure disease. We will also consider how TTM treatment options compare and contrast with those offered by modern medicine.
This workshop is part of the two-year Foundations of TTM program in Tibetan Medicine & External Therapies offered by Sorig Khang Bay Area and Sorig Khang International. Students are welcome to attend select workshops, or the entire program. Learn more →
